CHURCH ORGANIZATIONS

The following are organizations that have been formed and meet within Nixon United Methodist Church and it's congregation.

The Church's Calendar of Events will show all meeting times for each organization throughout the year.

United Methodist Men
The United Methodist Men meets on the third Monday of each month except for June, July, August and December for dinner, fellowship, a program and a business meeting. The United Methodist Men has a chicken barbecue each July and an occasional spaghetti dinner to raises funds for mission work and special projects.

United Methodist Women
The United Methodist Women meets on the third Thursday of each month except for June, July, August and December at a local restaurant for lunch, fellowship and a business meeting. The United Methodist Women holds a rummage sale fundraiser in April each year to raise funds for mission work and special projects.

Church Choir
The choir sings every Sunday during the school year and practices on Wednesday evenings at 7:00pm. Each year they bless the congregation with a Christmas cantata sung on the Sunday before Christmas.

Scouting Ministries
The Nixon United Methodist Men is the sponsoring organization for Boy Scout Troop 53 and Pack 53. The Boy Scout, Cub Scout Pack and Boy Scout den meetings are held in the Church facilities. In the past couple of years, several boy scouts from Troop 53 have been awarded the rank of Eagle Scout, the most prestigious rank in scouting

Outreach Committee
The Outreach Committee sponsors many missions and ministries each year for the Church to participate in. The Church supports the South Butler Emergency Food Pantry and local Meals-On-Wheels. They regularly collect food, school items, and cleaning supplies for people affected by natural disasters. The committee sponsors a Community Day for all residents during the summer and a Drive Through Nativity program featuring live animals and actors in December. In December, the Church collects clothing and other presents for families in the area. Nixon also has a Sewing Circle that des various items for local hospitals and nursing homes. The Church also picks up the trash along Airport Road.
